Media Resource Downloader Shows "No Media Resources Found": What to Check
The extension reads only the current tab's own page: img tags, CSS backgrounds, audio and video elements with real URLs. It can't scan browser-internal pages, iframes, blob or canvas content. Reload the page, scroll, press Refresh.
The problem
You click the icon and see “No media resources found”, or “Please refresh the page and try again”. You know the page has pictures. It is hard to tell whether the extension is broken, the page is special, or you did something wrong.
Quick fixes, in order
- Reload the page. If the tab was open before the extension was installed or updated, the scanner isn’t running in it yet. Reload, then click the icon.
- Scroll, then Refresh. Lazy-loaded media doesn’t exist until it’s near the screen.
- Check the tab type. The extension refuses
chrome://,edge://,about:,brave://,opera://,vivaldi://and its own pages, and Chrome blocks content scripts on the Web Store. - Check the other tabs. Images, Audio and Videos are separate; the counts for the others are on their tabs.
- Loosen filters. A high minimum width/height or a search term hides things. Press Reset filters in the smart filter panel.
What is, and isn’t, readable
| Found | Not found |
|---|---|
<img> with a URL | Images in other frames (iframes) |
CSS background-image URLs | Inline data: images |
<audio> / <video> and their <source> | blob: and segmented streams, DRM |
| Poster images for video | Pictures drawn on <canvas> |
| Media inside Shadow DOM components |
When it’s an iframe
Find the iframe’s address (DevTools → Elements, look for the <iframe src>), open it in its own tab and scan there.

FAQ
What does “Please refresh the page and try again” mean? The extension couldn’t talk to the page. Usually the page was opened before the extension was installed, or it’s a restricted browser page. Reload the tab.
Does it work on chrome:// pages or the Web Store? No. Chrome doesn’t let extensions read those.
Why are videos from big sites missing? They stream through blob URLs or protected segments, not a file. See the video guide.
Is anything sent to your servers when I scan? No. Scanning is local. The only network call to us is the Pro licence check.
