Transcription Failed, Empty or Wrong? How to Fix It in SpeakSense
Check the language first, then the audio (is it silent or very quiet?), then that the language is installed and iOS is 26 or later. Re-run from the note; a stopped run leaves the note unchanged.
The problem
You waited for the transcript and got an empty note, an error, or text in the wrong script. It isn’t clear whether the audio, the language or the phone is at fault.
Messages and what to do

Checklist
- Language. Is it the language actually spoken?
- Audio. Play the note. Is it audible and clear? Was the microphone permission on when it was recorded?
- Language installed. The picker marks installed languages as Downloaded. Connect to Wi-Fi once to install a new one.
- Re-run. Open the note, Transcribe this recording, choose language, then Replace.
- Storage. A full phone can stop saving results; check Settings → Storage.
- Update iOS if it still says it isn’t available.
When the result is just inaccurate
Edit it in place. Names and numbers are the usual misses; the timestamps help you check them fast.

FAQ
What does “No speech found” mean? The recording was silent or in a language other than the one chosen.
What does “Transcription stopped” mean? You left the sheet. Nothing was changed; run it again.
“On-device speech transcription isn’t available on this device.” The device or iOS version does not support the engine. SpeakSense needs iOS 26 or later.
Can I re-run it? Yes. Open the note, choose Transcribe this recording, pick the language and Replace the old result.
