How to Create and Save Your Own Photo Stamp Template

TL;DR

Build the stamp you need (fields, fonts, colours, layout), save it as your own template and select it before shooting. Keep one template per purpose, such as a dense field template and a minimal travel template.

The problem

You shoot the same kind of photo again and again: the same site every week, the same inspection form, a trip with a hundred pictures. Each time, the stamp is slightly different: a field turned off, a font that reset, an element in the wrong corner. Weeks later the photos don’t match, the report looks sloppy, and setting it up again costs time you didn’t plan to spend.

On a job site, “slightly different” can mean a crucial field (project, bearing, accuracy) is missing from half the photos.

What a template solves

A template freezes your decisions: which fields, which fonts and colours, where everything sits. Pick it before shooting and every photo comes out identical in layout. That consistency is what makes a set of photos read as one record.

How to do it

  1. Start from the style closest to what you want.
  2. Set the fields you need. For site work: location, date/time, project, bearing, GPS accuracy. For travel: place, date, weather.
  3. Set fonts, colours and positions, and test on a real scene.
  4. Save it as your own template, with a name that says what it’s for.
  5. Before each shoot, select the template. Check the preview.

Habits that pay off

  • One template per purpose. Don’t try to make one stamp do both jobs. A dense field stamp ruins a holiday photo; a minimal one leaves a site report short.
  • Name them clearly. “Site – Report Bar” is better than “Template 3”.
  • Edit deliberately. Changing a template affects future photos, not past ones, so don’t edit mid-job.
  • Pro adds logo and note presets for repeat work, such as your company logo or a standard note.

Customising the stamp covers the design side. Documenting field work covers which fields to include.

FAQ

Do saved templates persist between sessions? Yes. Templates are stored on your device and are available the next time you open GeoCam.

Can I keep more than one? Yes. Make one for each use, for example one for job sites and one for travel, and switch between them.

Can I edit a template later? Yes. Reopen it, change it and save. Only future photos change.

Can I add my company logo? Yes, in Pro: add your own logo or name to the stamp.
