How to Hide One Camera Mid-Recording Without Stopping (Privacy Cover)

TL;DR

Tap to hide either camera while recording. The hidden moment is replaced in the saved video by a cover: transparent, a colour or an image (custom covers are Pro). The default hides the front bubble or covers the rear in black.

The problem

Mid-recording, something appears that shouldn’t be in the video: a bystander, a document on a desk, a password, a child, your own face when you take a call. Stopping the take breaks the flow and loses the moment; trimming it out later means editing, and you might not notice it until you review.

What the cover does

During recording you can hide the front or the rear camera with a tap. The recorded video shows a cover instead of the live feed for as long as it’s hidden, and the live preview does too. Because the cover is composited into the video as it is written, the hidden moment isn’t in the file.

You choose the cover for each camera in Settings:

  • Transparent: nothing is drawn. For a PiP bubble, it simply disappears and the main feed shows.
  • Colour: a solid colour.
  • Image: a picture of your choice (custom covers are Pro).

Defaults: the front hides by disappearing, and the rear is covered by solid black so the scene behind is fully obscured.

Steps

  1. Choose your cover style in Settings for the front and rear cameras.
  2. Record normally.
  3. Tap to hide the camera when needed, and tap again to show it.
  4. Review the preview to confirm the cover appears where you expected.

Good practice

  • Test it before an important shoot. Know where the control is.
  • Remember audio. Hiding a camera doesn’t mute the microphone.
  • Cover early, since a late tap may let a frame through.

FAQ

Is the hidden part still in the saved file? No. The cover is composited into the recording itself, so the hidden moment is replaced, not just hidden in the preview.

What do viewers see? By default the front bubble disappears and the rear is covered by solid black. You can choose a colour or an image per camera in Settings (Pro for custom covers).

Do I have to stop recording to hide it? No. You toggle it during the take.
